So Indonesia

I have one interested story today. It's about my friend who came from Kenya. He is taking some class that same with me. Hmmm...ok, let's call him Jono (It's good Indonesian name right?:p).

This afternoon i was sitting in the class when he was walking into the class. He brought a bottle of international branded cola. He sat in the same rows with someone in front of me. When he was drinking his cola, my other friend (Who sat in front of me) said a hello to him. In Indonesian culture, just saying hello to someone you know is so unpolite habit. You must talk some more bla bla bla after you say hello. That's why foreigner said that Indonesian people is so friendly. We used to call that habit as 'basa basi'. Ok, back to the Jono's story. After said 'Hello', she was asking too "Why did you buy that brand of cola?". In Indonesian culture, it's just 'basa basi' to be polite. Then, Jono answered her question, "Ouw, because i like this.". I thought she was curious with Jono. So she asked more "Why don't you buy blabla cola? It's cheaper than that brand.". And Jono answered her question spontaneously "Oh no no, that's too Indonesia.". Spontaneously, i laughed so loud hearing his answer.

He was shocked with my laugh then looked at me. I just gave him some smile.

Do you know what i was thinking about?
He lives in Indonesia but he didn't want an Indonesian cola. Wow, it must be an expensive life! In other side,  I was thinking  that Indonesian has made a cola but they have too try so hard to be an International cola. I know it will need more time, effort and money, but..i'm sure in the future, this so Indonesian cola will be an International cola. Semangaattt!!

Termites

Do you know termites?
I would like to tell you little stories about termites.

In this semester, i'm taking Taxonomic Class. In this class i'm learning about insect identification steps, insects taxonomy and the part of insects body. Of course that's not easy. There are so many part. Wings, legs, thorax, abdomen, mouthpart and so on.

This week, the subject is termites and dermaptera. From this class i learned that there are many kind of termites. We learned 3 families of termites. They are Kalotermitidae, Rhnotermitidae and Termitidae. To identificate the family of termites, we need to know first the stages of the termites. We have to know the termites is a soldiers or the reproductions stage (alate). For the soldiers stages, we need to check first the head of the termites. Look for the small hole in its head. Just be careful, because the hole is very small. In the identification book, the hole called fontanel. From the fontanel we can find the family of the termites. It's different with alate's stages. Termites in alate's stages have a wngs to fly and find their mates. So, the Identification of alate's satges is stated from the wings venation.

Rektorats Park on Saturday

Yesterday was a wonderful day for me. Me, Lutfi and Mas Agus sat in the rektorats park while talking many things in English!

It was begin from the leisure time in the Takson Laboratory on Friday, we were talking about many things include the English Course in this city. We were talking about the best methods to train our ability in speaking and  the cheapest and closest English course in Bogor. Then we have and idea to practice together in campus before we made decision to take one of the course places. Me, Mus, Mas Agus and Lutfi were make some appointment to practice on Saturday.

In Saturday morning, i went to the gym for jogging with Nika, Lutfi and Yeni. We were running and walking a lot. We were ends our jogging an hour later, when we're all get wet by our sweat. It was tiring activity, but healthy too.

On 10 am, mas Agus was the first person who arrived in the Rektorats Park. He didn't like being alone in that park, he said he felt uncomfortable with the teenagers who sitting near to him. He didn't want to be an ‘obat nyamuk’ in the park. That's why he decided to bought something in Agrimart while waiting for us. Oh ya, before you ask or looking for in Google about the meaning of ‘obat nyamuk’, i will explain to you about it first. Obat nyamuk is one of the clause in informal conversation in Indonesia. The meaning of obat nyamuk is one thing that we put in one place in the room (usually in the corner) to avoid mosquitoes so we can do our activity without disturbances of mosquitoes. So, from the description of the function of obat nyamuk, we can conclude that being obat nyamuk is similar with unimportant things which has a main task avoiding the disturbances to make the important person being comfortable and can do their activities well.

Lutfi and me arrived in the park at 10.20 then we find a best place to talk. Mas Agus came back with snacks and drinks for us. For me, that was a picnic :D

We were talking about many things and laugh together. Some people around us watching us and seems so wondered with us. May be they thought that we were songong. Yeah, who cares? 

The most important things was we enjoy that activity. That's really useful for us.

One of us is doing the trip today, some of us will start going home tomorrow and the rest will do the trip on Friday.
